Deborah Geis (Debby) specializes in twentieth/twenty-first century literature, especially drama/film, African American literature, and the literature of food. Her books include _Postmodern Theatric(k)s_ (Univ. of Michigan Press), _Approaching the Millennium: Essays on Angels in America_ (co-edited with Steven F. Kruger; Univ. of Michigan Press), _Considering MAUS: Approaches to Art Spiegelman's "Survivor's Tale" of the Holocaust_ (Univ. of Alabama Press), _Suzan-Lori Parks_ (Univ. of Michigan Press), and _Beat Drama: Playwrights and Performances of the "Howl" Generation_ (Bloomsbury/Methuen). Her most recent book, _Read My Plate: The Literature of Food_, is forthcoming from Lexington Books. She is also a performance poet who has published her poetry widely and who has competed in the National Poetry Slam.
