Professor Emerita of English and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

In 2016 Marnie's essay on Walt Whitman's poem "As I Ebb'd with the Ocean of Life" was published in The Walt Whitman Quarterly Review, and "Looking for Louis Agassiz:  A Story of Rocks and Race in Maine" was published in the Canadian interdisciplinary journal Mosaic.  In July 2017, her article called "Why Geologists Think Glacial Mountains Look Like Sheep" appeared in The Atlantic magazine.

Now an Emerita Professor of English and Women's Studies, Marnie is teaching a Honor Scholar Seminar called "How to Live:  The Long Tradition of Literary Advice" and working with students in the Academic Resource Center.  Marnie received her B.A. from Stanford University and her Ph.D. in English Literature from Yale.
