Gregory Schwipps is author of What This River Keeps, one of 13 books selected for the Next Indiana Bookshelf in 2015, which was created by The Indiana Center for the Book and Indiana Humanities to help celebrate Indiana's bicentennial in 2016. What This River Keeps tells a familiar Hoosier story – an elderly couple fears the loss of their bottomland farm to eminent domain, their son struggles with duty to his family’s land and legacy – and, in so doing, asks us to consider how we balance public good and private interests.
Schwipps also is co-author of Fishing for Dummies, second edition. He is vice president of the Indiana Catfish Conservation Association, and he had a leadership role in encouraging the Indiana legislature to pass new catfish conservation guidelines in January 2016.
