Sherry J. Mou is Associate Professor of Chinese Literature and Language in Modern Languages Department and Asian Studies Program. Since joining the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ faculty in 2002, Professor Mou has offered courses in both modern and classical Chinese literature, language, and culture, including Chinese Theater and Chinese Cinema.
Mou has published articles, reviews, and translations in both English and Chinese on Chinese literature, pedagogy, and films. She is the editor of Presence and Presentation: Women in the Chinese Literati Tradition (St. Martin’s, 1999), and she guest-edited the Winter 2001-2002 issue of Chinese Studies in History, entitled “Women Warrior in China.” She is also the author of Gentlemen’s Prescriptions for Women’s Lives: A Thousand Years of Biographies of Chinese Women (M.E. Sharpe, 2004), which explores the development of the tradition of women’s biographies in Chinese official histories during the first millennium. She is current working on a book on Confucianism in recent Chinese films.
Mou is a native of Taiwan.
